Our commitments

The rigor with which we approach our craft is reflected in the quality of the products we offer for tasting, but also in the values that inspire all the members of the House.

Fully aware of the environmental and societal impact of our activity, we have worked to establish a plan of concrete actions, which revolves around 4 main principles.

Develop good and safe products

We ensure the safety of our consumers on a daily basis by adhering to all the processes and controls that govern each of our productions.  This ranges from the traceability of raw materials to the labeling of finished products.  This rigor is subject to the IFS (International Food Standard) certification, for which we are audited once a year by an independent organization.  Our goal is to maintain the highest level (a score of at least 96/100) each year, which has been the case since our first certification in 2012.

Innovation at FEYEL & ARTZNER is an integral part of the commitment to offer products that align with new trends and meet genuine consumer expectations ; this includes snacking products, appetizers, and even more everyday items like ready meals.

Each development of new recipes is scrutinized under the « clean label » criteria, and we make sure to reduce the list of ingredients to the strict minimum to achieve the right taste.

Encourage responsible and ethical practices among our suppliers

Starting from the truth that there are no good products without good raw materials, we are particularly vigilant in ensuring the proper respect for animal welfare.  We require our partner suppliers (farmers and slaughterhouses) to adhere to the Euro Foie Gras Charter (European Federation of Foie Gras Producing Countries), a charter that sets the commitments that farmers must follow, including:

Animals must receive an appropriate quantity and quality of food.  We only accept animals fed without GMOs.
The animals have permanent and unrestricted access to drinking water.
Animals must have enough space to be able to move around.
Animals must benefit from thermal comfort.

We maintain sincere and authentic communication with our consumers about the practices of the sector.  Our communication tools incorporate this truth, and we rely on the communication from our professional union, CIFOG, which has developed a very comprehensive information website on this subject: www.elevage-gavage.fr.

Reduce our environmental impact

We work daily to reduce our energy consumption (water, gas, electricity) by monitoring performance indicators that are objectively set to decrease every year.
We recently invested in the installation of a centralized refrigeration unit using propane gas, replacing several aging units.  The heat emitted during operation is recovered, particularly to heat cooking water or the water used for cleaning the facilities.

We now systematically integrate eco-design thinking into the development of new packaging, with the aim of reducing the amount of packaging and targeting the recyclability of materials.

The continuous improvement of our processes is an integral part of this desire to always offer the best.  We have therefore sought the help of a European fund to assist us in:

the modernization of old machines
the increase in its production capacity
the improvement of material yields
the simplification of machine operation
the modernization of the jar capping line

These investments will support our development, promote growth, and further enhance the excellence of Alsace Region expertise across all territories.

The FEYEL & ARTZNER House and its President, Mrs. Claudine FREY ROPOSTE, thank the Grand Est region and the EAFRD (European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development) for this support.

Improving well-being at work

The company would not have survived for over 210 years if it had not been able to rely on the Women and Men who work with such passion and tenacity!
We pay particular attention to ensuring the health and safety of our employees: personal protective equipment against cold, heat, noise, or cutting risks; lifting equipment to reduce lifting efforts; regular changes of positions and tasks to diversify movements and avoid MSDs…

The other area of focus is on the development of employees; helping them grow by offering the necessary training to develop their skills and interpersonal abilities: a personal enrichment that also benefits the organization.

Our company life is also marked by strong moments of conviviality: the Saint Edward ritual, at the beginning of January, which brings all employees together around a good meal to thank them for their commitment to the success of the Christmas festivities.  It is also an opportunity to thank the veterans with the presentation of work medals.
The evenings organized by our CSE are always a moment of communion, whether it’s costume parties, cocktail on a cruise ship on the Rhine, magic shows…

Gender Equality Index

At FEYEL & ARTZNER, we strive to promote equality in all areas of the company, particularly between Women and Men.  Thus, we work on pay gaps (score obtained : 33/40), the proportion of women in the highest salaries (score obtained : 10/10), and the gap in raise rates between men and women (score obtained : 35/35).  Our index stands at 92 points out of 100 this year (an index below 75 points requires corrective measures).

Developing partnerships

Well established in its territory, FEYEL & ARTZNER wishes to be involved in actions oriented towards others.  We have thus developed various partnerships with the ESATs of Bas Rhin, the Food Bank.
We also engage with future entrants to the job market through interventions at schools and universities (EM STRASBOURG, IUT ILLKIRCH, ECPM CRONENBOURG, LYCEE HOTELIER ILLKIRCH…) and we participate in the new WORKATHON program supported by the Grand Est Region, which aims to bring together companies and future graduates to think together about the world of work of tomorrow.

Humain ressources

The HR policy of Feyel & Artzner strives to help our employees grow while respecting the balance between personal and professional life.

To achieve this, we focus on 4 main themes:

Promoting diversity and welcoming employees from all backgrounds.
Supporting our employees throughout their career within the company.
Developing versatility & Maintaining professionalism.
Recognizing and valuing employees.

Diversity and inclusion

We place great importance on our recruitment process, which we strive to keep free from any form of discrimination.
Diversity is at the heart of our company. Whether cultural, generational, or educational, it is a true asset that enriches our business. Our employees come from diverse backgrounds and bring together their experiences to generate new ideas.
Together, we form an open, agile, and forward-looking organization.

Our recruitment process is as follows:
All applications are reviewed fairly.

– If your profile catches our attention, you’ll be contacted by phone for an initial conversation.
– If this exchange is positive, you’ll be invited to an in-person interview with the HR Manager.
– Finally, if this second exchange is successful, you’ll be invited to meet your department manager and tour the position.

At the end of the process, candidates who are not selected are informed by email. Those selected are contacted for onboarding.

In some cases, a trial observation day is offered to help candidates make an informed decision.

For temporary roles, this process may be shortened.

Supporting our employees

We take special care with new employees, from their arrival (onboarding) to their departure (offboarding).

The recruitment process includes a meeting with HR, an interview with the relevant department manager, and a workplace tour.

For key roles, we offer a discovery day so that both parties can assess the role, its environment, and mutual fit.

Before starting, every new hire receives a welcome booklet and all necessary administrative information.

On day one, a Health & Safety training and a site tour are scheduled.

Each new employee is also paired with a mentor to ease their daily integration.

These are valuable opportunities for open dialogue, and the content is formalized in writing.

At the end of an employee’s career, we offer personalized retirement support through an external organization to help them transition smoothly, financially, and socially.

Versatility and professionalism

While product quality is our priority, it requires full commitment from all staff.
To support this, we’ve developed a demanding training plan that benefits over 80% of our employees annually.

This metric is tracked in management reviews to ensure we’re attentive to employee needs.
We encourage continuous improvement and human development ideas, often shared during annual reviews.

This allows employees to evolve their roles or request more varied tasks for mutual benefit.
A tailored training plan is then implemented.
Our highly seasonal business also demands ongoing flexibility.

Employees may be asked to switch roles or departments frequently throughout the year.
This adaptability is supported through personalized guidance to help them grow professionally.

Employee recognition

Throughout the year, we organize events where staff connect and help build our company culture. Everyone’s energy is vital to our long-term success.

Highlights from 2024 and 2025 include :

On December 6, Manneles are always on hand for the delight of our sweet-toothed team on Saint Nicholas Day !

Participation in the Workathon by six volunteers, engaging with younger generations and their career goals.

The Work Medal ceremony, led by our President, honoring loyal team members—including those with over 35 years of service !

To combat musculoskeletal disorders and reduce fatigue during peak periods, this year we have acquired an exoskeleton for the shipping department. Additionally, we are testing several models of “support T-shirts” in maintenance, order preparation, and manufacturing departments. These are designed to relieve employees’ backs by promoting better posture.

Because our employees’ health matters!

A festive gathering for our annual Saint Edouard dinner each January.

Catered and seated, it’s a chance for leadership to thank employees for their end-of-year efforts—and of course, it starts with a fine slice of foie gras!

Free flu vaccination: every year, on a voluntary basis, we organize and cover the cost of flu vaccination for all employees, in collaboration with AST67.

Our professions

Because they are the best ones to talk about it, several of our employees share their experience at Feyel & Artzner, as well as their vision of their mission.
